Classified by processing technology

Currently, there are approximately 474 coated steel plate production lines in nearly 200 companies in 40 countries and regions around the world. There are about 200 production lines in the United States, more than 50 in Japan, 120 in European countries, and 74 in Asia.
At present, the annual production capacity of coated steel plates in the world is 14 million tons, of which US 4.5 million tons, Europe 4 million tons, Japan 2.7 million tons, and other countries in Asia about 1.2 million tons. The combined annual production capacity of the United States, Japan, and Europe accounts for about 84% of the total production capacity of the world.
Development of coated steel plate in China
China's coated steel plate production started late. In the 1980s, China began to introduce coated steel production technology and equipment. In 1983, Anshan Iron and Steel Cold Strip Plant introduced two single-roller coating lines from Japan to produce (0.5-1.5)mm×1000mm×2000mm coated steel plates with an annual production capacity of 1,500 tons.
In 1985, the Anshan Cold Rolling Plant imported second-hand equipment from the US Epicon plant.
In 1989, Baosteel introduced a set of high-speed automated coating production units from the American Wayne Company to produce (0.3 to 2) mm×1500 mm coated steel plates with an annual production capacity of 227,000 tons. The hot-rolled steel strips and cold-rolled steel strips were pickled. , electro-galvanized and hot-dip galvanized steel strip for the substrate. In the same year, Beijing Steel Window Factory introduced a (0.25-1.2)mm×1100mm coated steel plate production line from Japan with an annual production capacity of 35,000 tons.
The total production capacity of the 10 coated steel plate production lines at the time was 826,000 tons.
After 1998, all industries and industries in China have developed rapidly. The market demand for coated steel plates has greatly stimulated the consumption and development of coated steel plates, and production and consumption have increased year after year. According to the investigation and analysis conducted by the relevant state agencies, during 1998-2001, the average growth rate of coated steel plate production in China was 64%, and the annual growth rate of consumption was 68%. The output of self-produced coated steel plate in China was far from satisfying the market. Demand, therefore, since 1995, the import volume of coated steel plates has also increased year by year. Almost every year, the import volume is about 1 to 2 times higher than the output. It can be seen that in recent years, the coated steel plate in China has been in short supply, and the gap is very large.
In the past two years, there has been an upsurge in steel investment in China, and the construction of coated steel plate production lines is also growing rapidly. According to incomplete statistics, as of May 2004, China has built 24 coated steel plate production lines, which has an annual production capacity of 1.616 million tons. In addition, there are more than 10 production lines under construction and under construction. The construction of these production lines has greatly increased the production capacity of coated steel plates in China, and has also enabled China to enter the ranks of major producers of coated steel plates.
